The House

Built for trade. Restored for rest.

Number 38 began its life as a working shophouse: trade at the front, family above, the day spilling out onto the covered kaki lima — the five-foot way that runs along the street. We kept that bones-and-all character and brought it gently back to life, room by room.

The result is a small hotel with a big sense of place. Step out of the door and you are in the thick of old Alor Setar — kopitiams, street food and the night market within a few minutes' walk, with Menara Alor Setar and the railway station just beyond.
